...I have been vegetarian for a really long time. To be honest, I don't even remember how old was I when I stopped eating meat. 11? Maybe. Maybe 12. Not too sure. However, I am 24-to-be and I have spend half of my life as a vegetarian. As long as I can remember myself I would never enjoy eating meat. My grandparents and parents, of course, would force me to do so simply because "everyone does it" and I would just keep it in my cheek and throw it out when they wouldn't see it :) Besides, I have always loved animals and could not imagine why would people hurt them. However, when it comes to veganism, I would think that it is "too much" and that I "couldn't do it".
Long story short - my boyfriend, Miks, who's been an omnivore, not too long ago gave me an offer to become vegans for a month just to see how would our bodies and minds react to that. Well... Why not? So we did. And that's how the story of two foodies becoming vegans started.
In a couple of days after our agreement my boyfriend has started a research on vegan nutrition and came up with an amazing and very informative speech (check below) where an American Gary Yurofsky explains his reasons of becoming a vegan. If you happen to have a free hour and are willing to spend watching an informative video, you should do it so.
...and that's how we started. Gave our milk, cheese and egg leftovers to a friend of mine. Bought some yummy vanilla taste soya milk. Got tons of veggies. And nuts. And berries And yummy musli bars. And chocolate. And candies. And that's how our awesome month started.
